my 2 months update
I can't believe it. Two months of my exchange year are over! The time pasts so fast. Sometimes I would like to go home to my family and friends but then I think that I should enjoy the time here, because only this year I will be in Canada and I can't never go back in this life but my life in switzerland will I get back. It's so unreal that I'm here.
I have a lot of contact with my family and friends in Switzerland. Once or twice in a week I call my family and every second week with my aunt. With my grandparents do I write e-mails. I don't often call friends but I write every day with a very good friend and with other friends also sometimes during the week. I don't get homesick when I call/text with someone from Switzerland. I'm glad. I feel better when I call/text someone. That's from person to person different. But it's also okkay for me to get homesick. That's normal in an exchange year.
My days have finally a routine. The school is going well and I had the first tests. I understand every day more and more of the french. I still don't understand all but to understand the french here needs time and I'll take this time and have this time because this school year doesn't count for me. It's really confusing with three languages: in the school for 3 classes french, but in the breaks english with the other people, the contact with my family and friends in german and english in my host family. That's not easy. I still don't think or dream in english. But sometime I will think and dream in english I guess...
My school is very small and there aren't a lot of people. In my grade are like 25 people. There is only one big group with 12 people so I have to be friends with these people. But they are all so nice and I noticed I'm getting every day more and more in this group. Also next week I'll have a horseback riding lesson (finally) and maybe I'll play soccer.
I'm so happy in my host family. They did (will do) a lot of trips with me. We went to the Niagra Falls on thanksgiving and this was a big highlight for me because the Niagra Falls were on my bucket list. They were so beautiful and I think I'll go again there when I'll travel around with my family in the summer (at the end of my exchange year).
On the 26 of october I met the relatives of my host family. We celebrated thanksgiving. We drank hot apple cider with cinnamon (I ever had this) and it was really good. For the dessert there was pumpkin tie and it was also really good!!!
My little host sister (10years old) likes me very much and won't let me go in the summer. She's so cute and we play a lot of UNO together.
A big highlight for me was also Halloween. At first I was a little bit curiose that we have to dress up for school. So I had to buy the monday before a costum. I bought one with Zeynep (another exchange student on my school from Turkey). She was the devil and I the angel. The first both classes were normal. In the lunch break our school did like a costume contest with the whole school. We got from the people in our grade a big bag with candies. This was so nice. In religion we played Kahoot and just talked. The last class we had the opportunity to do some Halloween activities but Zeynep and I were alone upstairs and talked the whole our. We didn't know what's going on downstairs. But we had our fun!!!
So far I like canada. The people are more open and helpful than in Switzerland. Halloween is here a really big thing. Also in the fall time all is with pumpkin: coffee, tie, cookies and other food...
In this month it happens a lot, good and bad things. But I'm exciting for the rest of my exchange year. Thank you for reading my post.
